Since transitioning to a more plant-based diet, one of the most difficult animal products to give up is milk. English style tea is a daily ritual and one I’d rather not give up.
By itself, soy milk is a great milk alternative. It has a mild, nutty flavor and a nutritional profile similar to dairy milk. But how does it pair with tea?
I usually opt for the organic, unsweetened kind, but during these difficult timesof social distancing, only the original, sweetened version was available at the local grocery store. Sweeter tasting than you’d expect from 6 grams of sugar (5 grams of added sugar), it’s been a treat having it around.
The soy milk doesn’t curdle when added to tea, which is good. Unfortunately, the soy milk’s flavor overpowers the tea, which is bad. Fine on its own, Silk Original Soymilk is not a good dairy-free alternative for tea. The search continues.
I’ve not had it, but I’ve seen many people recommending oat milk in tea. I’ve not had to look for an alternative luckily.
